The Sit on Your Hands Challenge
If you've ever found yourself stuck in addictive or trauma-bonded relationships, whether romantic, familial, or platonic, this is for you. Inspired by a previous challenge I shared, called the Don’t Text Them: Sit on Your Hands Challenge, this post aims to guide you on a journey of emotional independence and self-love. Read below to discover how this challenge can be a transformative step in your healing journey.
The Importance of No Contact
No contact is crucial when you're in relationships that leave you feeling confused, anxious, or deeply overwhelmed. These relationships often involve people who don't treat you like the treasure you are, leaving you questioning your worth. I've always stressed the importance of removing yourself from environments where you're not chosen fully. Sit on Your Hands Challenge is the first step in resetting the narrative to one that honors your value.
The Sit on Your Hands Challenge
So, what exactly is the Sit on Your Hands Challenge?
It’s straightforward yet profoundly effective: go seven days without initiating any form of communication with the person causing your distress. This isn’t about playing mind games or trying to make someone jealous—it’s about focusing solely on you.
By not texting, checking their stories, or engaging in any covert monitoring (
a.k.a. taking a peek at their IG Stories), you give yourself the mental space needed to gain clarity and emotional independence.
Implementing the Sit on Your Hands Challenge
I understand that implementing this challenge is easier said than done. During these seven days, redirect your energy towards activities and people who genuinely cherish you. Spend time with friends who uplift you, engage in hobbies that bring you joy, or even reconnect with old acquaintances who were positive influences.
If the person does reach out, resist the urge to respond immediately. Give yourself at least four hours to break the habit of reflexive, instantaneous replies. The goal is to rebuild your independence and learn to sit with your feelings instead of reacting impulsively.
Implementing the Sit on Your Hands Challenge is a courageous step toward healing and self-discovery. Remember, this journey is about you regaining your power and living your life fully on your own terms. If you need further support, the No Contact Support Group is available for any woman who is tired of trying to detox from addictive relationships using her own knowledge and wants a process that works.
